Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Company ID 302 322 95 (hereinafter “UMB”)

Information Notice under Articles 13 and 14 of the GDPR

As a data controller, UMB is required under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR) to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) responsible for overseeing personal data protection at the university.

Data subjects may contact the DPO with any questions regarding the processing of their personal data or the exercise of their rights under Articles 15–21 of the GDPR, using the Data Subject Request From. The DPO ensures that requests are handled within the statutory time limit (30 days from receipt), in cooperation with the applicant and authorised UMB staff who process the relevant personal data.

If a request does not include all information necessary to identify the data subject and verify their identity, the data subject will receive a reply within the statutory period requesting the missing details, together with information about extending the processing deadline by an additional 60 days in accordance with the GDPR.

Applicants may exercise data subject rights only on their own behalf, or on behalf of another person if they are their legal representative. They cannot obtain access to information about other individuals. The GDPR does not apply to deceased persons.

Requests that merely seek guidance on how to submit a request are treated as standard enquiries outside the GDPR process.

A data subject should send their request to the faculty or organisational unit of UMB to which they provided their personal data and which is processing it.
