SMART CITIES KLUB
ABOUT
Smart Cities Klub (SCK) is an independent platform – an association of cities, municipalities, regions, experts, universities, and innovators. For more than 10 years, we have been helping local governments tackle their biggest challenges, implement innovations, and improve the quality of life for their residents. We serve as a connector between municipalities, public institutions, businesses, and academia.
Today, we bring together 24 municipalities from Slovakia and also collaborate with international partners – for example, from Scandinavia and the Netherlands.
What we do
• Networking – thematic workshops, Mayor’s Café
• Education – Smart City Academy, SCK Summer Schools
• Living Labs – pilot projects in real cities, effective use of financial resources
• Awareness & Outreach – Happy Smart Cities magazine
• Conferences – 12 editions of Slovakia on the Path to Smart Cities
• Projects – Horizon, LIFE, EIT Urban Mobility, URBACT
Our slogan
Connecting municipalities for a more sustainable and better future.
OUR ACTIVITIES IN THE CONSORTIUM
Within the consortium, we focus on dissemination and communication, innovative procurement for municipalities, and the development and scaling of Living Labs as testing and reference environments for new solutions. We contribute to building an innovation ecosystem and advancing the concept of Smart Cities, provide input for data-driven policymaking, support smart mobility, and collaborate on the creation of virtual platforms connecting innovative solutions for towns, cities, and regions.
BENEFITS OF OOUR OUTPUTS AND TARGET GROUP
Our outputs are primarily aimed at municipalities engaged as STICS Followers, who gain inspiration, motivation for change, and the opportunity to test or transfer concrete solutions into practice. They also have a strong impact on students and active citizens engaged as STICS Explorers, enabling them to realize their own ideas, gain hands-on experience, and become part of the innovation ecosystem.

What Are Your Expectations from the STICS Project?
We expect STICS to primarily empower municipalities – giving them access to innovative solutions, data, and tools that will help them manage development more effectively, improve the quality of life for residents, and strengthen the competitiveness of regions. I believe the project will bring new momentum for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the long-term sustainability of innovative solutions directly in villages, cities, and regions.
For Whom and When Will Your Outputs Be Applicable?
Our outputs are aimed above all at villages, cities, and regions engaged as STICS Followers – enabling them to immediately draw inspiration, test solutions, and transfer them into practice. At the same time, we want to involve students and active citizens as STICS Explorers, as well as the business sector as STICS Collaborators, giving them space to co-create new models and solutions. Practical results will be available already during testing in Living Labs and, fully after the project’s completion, as support for decision-making, planning, and the implementation of innovations.
