ABOUT

BARANI DESIGN is a Slovak company turning aerospace know-how into rugged, easy-to-use weather sensors and micro-stations. Our devices meet—and often exceed—WMO standards, yet need minimal calibration, so they can be deployed anywhere, from mountain farms to city roofs. Thousands feed high-density networks across Europe and support agriculture, aviation, smart-city and road-safety projects. New products like the wireless MeteoHelix and easyMETAR boost safety for small airports.

OUR ACTIVITIES IN THE CONSORTIUM

BARANI manufactures innovative environmental sensors and is a recognised leader in the meteorological-sensor industry. BARANI’s laboratory calibrations meet or exceed the highest industry standards, and its field performance—with markedly lower measurement uncertainty—sets new benchmarks. In STICS we aim to develop, test, produce and install a suite of urban-environment sensors—including our patented Dual-Black Globe heat-stress thermometer—and to add NB-IoT telemetry, with pilot deployments in the Horné Srnie smart-eco village.

BENEFITS OF OOUR OUTPUTS AND TARGET GROUP

We will design, test and install new sensors in pilot areas such as Horné Srnie. Data from these deployments will create environmental indicators—human and animal heat stress, meteorological and other metrics—whose fusion will drive smart-eco-village research, development and timely, actionable intelligence for decision-makers.

What Are Your Expectations from the STICS Project?

The STICS project is transformational because it takes a holistic view of the environment and shows how science-based indicators can guide urban development through informed decision-making.

For Whom and When Will Your Outputs Be Applicable?

BARANI’s outputs will be immediately available worldwide for smart-eco-village projects, urban planning and monitoring efforts. Researchers can access them through our grant or discount programmes dedicated to advancing environmental planning and protection in urban, suburban and rural settings.
